Manchester United are hoping to sign Napoli left-back Faouzi Ghoulam this summer, according to various reports.

With Luke Shaw likely to leave Old Trafford at the end of the season, the Red Devils will be in the market for a replacement and French outlet Foot Mercato claim José Mourinho has identified Ghoulam as his prime target.

Paris Saint-Germain are also understood to be interested in the Algerian international, who Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport claim could cost as much as €38m if a bid is made before 30 June. After that date, his release clause will increase to €48m.

The 27-year-old was one of the form players in Europe in the early part of this season before his campaign was cruelly cut short by a knee ligament injury, followed by a fractured kneecap.

The former Saint-Étienne man – who is also represented by Mourinho’s agent, Jorge Mendes – ended up making just 17 appearances in all competitions this term, scoring two goals and assisting five others.

On Tuesday, the Daily Mail reported that United are also interested in Juventus left-back Alex Sandro, who has not been named in Brazil’s World Cup squad.
