Daniel James would appear to have moved a step closer to joining Manchester United from Swansea.

Various outlets report on Tuesday that James has agreed personal terms and has his heart set on a move to Old Trafford despite an attempt from Brighton to hijack the deal.

The Seagulls unveiled Graham Potter as their new manager on Monday and reports claim the former Swansea boss was hoping to take James with him from South Wales.

However, the 21-year-old winger is expected to join United in a deal worth £15m in the coming weeks.

James only made his Championship debut last August and finished the season with five goals and 10 assists in all competitions.

He has been capped twice by the Welsh national team and has just been named in Ryan Giggs’ 26-man squad for a training camp in Portugal ahead of next month’s Euro 2020 qualifying round matches against Croatia and Hungary.

United are expected to spend big in the transfer market this summer as Ole Gunnar Solskjaer bids to get the club back in the Champions League next season.

There are suggestions that moves could still be made for more established wingers, such as Borussia Dortmund’s Jadon Sancho and Inter Milan’s Ivan Perišić.

If he joins, James will very much be regarded as one for the future.
