With the football on hold at the moment, weā€™ve been thinking about who gets in Manchester Cityā€™s all-time XI.

Yesterday we completed our midfield. Today weā€™re choosing the first of our front three.

Here are the nominees ā€¦

3rd ā€“ Paul Dickov

Paul Dickov is not the most gifted striker ever to wear the City shirt. He isnā€™t even in the top 10.

But in terms of his importance to the club, he has few rivals.

The Scot joined City from Arsenal in 1996 and spent eight years at the club over two separate spells.

He scored 41 goals in all and it was his injury-time equaliser against Gillingham in the 1999 Division Two Play-off final which might just be the most important in the history of the club.

Had City lost that game, who knows where they might be now.

2nd ā€“ Raheem Sterling

The most recent arrival in this, Sterling became the most expensive British player in history when he moved to City from Liverpool in 2015.

He lifted the first trophy of his career ā€“ the League Cup ā€“ in his first season but it wasnā€™t until Pep Guardiolaā€™s arrival that he truly began to blossom into a world class forward.

The England winger scored a hatful of goals in the 17/18 and 18/19 campaign and his record currently stands at 89 and counting.

While his medal haul reads: Two Premier League titles, three League Cups and the FA Cup.

Turns out you can buy success.

And the winner is ā€¦ Tommy Johnson

Most City fans born this side of the Second World War may not have even heard of Johnson, but a look at the record books will tell you why you should.

The striker joined the club in 1919 having previously worked as an apprentice in the local shipyard and he went on to spend 11 years at Hyde Road.

A left-footer with a powerful shot, he holds Cityā€™s record for the most goals scored in a single season (38) and is third on the clubā€™s all-time scoring chart with 166.

Hereā€™s how the team is looking so far ā€¦

GK: Bert Trautmann RB: Pablo Zabaleta LB: Glyn Pardoe CB: Aymeric Laporte CB: Vincent Kompany CM: Yaya TourƩ CM: Colin Bell CM: David Silva FW: Tommy Johnson

Check back tomorrow when we will be choosing the second forward!
