Recent comments that Real Madrid’s Dani Ceballos made to media suggested new manager Santiago Solari does not find Isco fit enough to play.

Mundo Deportivo reports that Manchester City are closely monitoring the ongoing situation between the play-maker and the Spanish giant.

The player from Andalusia scored seven goals and added seven assists in 30 league matches for Real Madrid in the 2017-18 season.

Despite strong form last campaign, Isco has struggled with the turn-over at manager. Madrid may be more willing to entertain offers for the Spanish international if they progress towards bringing Eden Hazard to the Bernabéu from Chelsea.

At the age of 26, Isco has not yet managed to solidify his place in the starting lineup at Madrid. The former Málaga midfielder has been substituted out of 116 of his 178 matches as a starter (65.16%) and has only completed 62 of the 252 official games in which he has appeared for Los Blancos (24.6%)

In the time since Solari replaced the ill-fated Julen Lopetegui, Isco has rarely been seen. He did not dress for the Copa del Rey fixture in Melilla and sat on the bench for the La Liga match at Celta de Vigo.

Isco played 34 minutes against Valladolid and just 17 minutes off the bench in Champions League against Viktoria Plzen. The play-maker has not started since the disastrous 5-1 loss at the Camp Nou.

Pep Guardiola has long been an admirer of the tidy midfielder and Manchester City could pursue him if Isco’s relationship with Real Madrid frays further.

The Spanish international has been capped 36 times by La Roja and could play a role similar to David Silva with the Citizens.
