Manchester City will an apology from Bayern Munich president Uli Hoeness after his comments regarding their transfer policy.
Hoeness made an extraordinary claim earlier this week that City owner Sheikh Mansour paid for transfers by ramping up the price of oil.
Hoeness, who was convicted of tax evasion in 2014, told a financial conference in Munich: “My friend Pep told me what happens when he wants to sign a player that costs €100 million.
“He puts some videos together of the player and goes to see the Sheikh. Once he is there, there is an opulent feast put on during which he teaches the videos to him and the money is transferred.”
Understandably City are furious with those remarks, and according to the Mirror have demanded a public apology.
A senior source at the Etihad told the paper: “It was the remark of a smug, arrogant egotist.
“We are also concerned that there may be a racist element to what Hoeness has claimed.”
It is understood that the matter has been placed in the hands of City’s lawyers.
