Manchester City could make their first signing of the summer within the next week.
That’s according to Italian outlet Tuttosport, who report that the Premier League champions are a “step away” from signing Juventus right-back João Cancelo.
City have been linked with Cancelo for a number of weeks and if Tuttosport’s information is correct, the Portuguese international’s arrival at the Etihad Stadium could spell the end of Danilo’s time at the club.
The Brazilian has been heavily linked with a switch to Inter, although recent reports suggested new Nerazzurri boss Antonio Conte is now pursuing other targets.
Cancelo only joined Juve from Valencia last summer and the 25-year-old enjoyed an impressive debut season in Turin.
However, Calciomercato report on Saturday that the Serie A champions are keen to offload him because his playing style apparently doesn’t suit incoming manager Maurizio Sarri’s philosophy.
The Old Lady are therefore hoping to cut ties and sporting director Fabio Paratici is understood to have recently travelled to Manchester to discuss the possibility of City buying him.
