Manchester City aren’t expected to be particularly busy in the transfer market this summer, with a centre back and a defensive midfielder likely to be the only two new players Pep Guardiola adds to his squad.

But a fresh report from The Sun suggests the Premier League champions could be adding a new goalkeeper to their ranks before the start of next season.

Last year, Aro Muric had to be recalled from his loan spell when Claudio Bravo ruptured his Achilles tendon and the 20-year-old deputised for Ederson for the whole season, making five senior appearances in total.

But Muric is now being linked with a season-long loan to Nottingham Forest and with Bravo still recovering from injury, City could be in need of some back-up.

That’s why The Sun claim they are interested in 35-year-old Spanish goalkeeper Asier Riesgo, who is available on a free transfer after finishing his contract at LaLiga club Eibar.

Riesgo spent the last four seasons at Eibar after joining on a free transfer from Osasuna in 2015, and he kept a total of 17 clean sheets in 69 appearances for the club.

If he does move to the Etihad Stadium, he will likely be considered the club’s third choice goalkeeper, behind Ederson and Bravo.
