The deal for Lyon’s 22-year-old Tanguy Ndombele is not yet done, despite rumours of a done deal.

Speaking to French radio station RMC on Thursday, Lyon president Jean-Michel Aulas cast some doubt over the deal when he scoffed at reports that Tottenham had agreed on a deal for the talented midfielder.

“I can assure you of that we’re in no hurry,” said Aulas. “It’s not done. Tanguy has shown these qualities in the French team, he is one of our best players. How much is he worth? I don’t know, but it’s worth over 45m.”

Despite the pushback from Lyon, it is believed the 22-year-old is the top of Mauricio Pochettino’s summer transfer wishlist.

“It is essential that this year the team is reinforced,” said Pochettino to Spanish media outlet TV3. “We have saved a lot of money in just two years without signing players and this should allow us to strengthen ourselves.”

Aulas was not shy to say he’s in no hurry to close the deal.

“An offer of 70m euros? If I wait for another eight days, it will [become] 80m euros. Tottenham’s first proposal was 45m euros. Since then we’ve been talking, nothing’s done.”
