Ballon d’Or winner Luka Modrić is finally set to stay at Real Madrid.
The Croatian was heavily linked with a move to Inter last summer and had been looking for a new contract to keep him at the Bernabéu.
Now, according to Marca, a deal has been struck.
The report claims Modrić will sign a contract to extend his Madrid stay to 2021, one year longer than his current deal.
It’s likely to be the final contract of the midfielder’s career. Modrić will turn 36 shortly after the end of the 2020/21 season.
The new deal is said to make the Croatian one of the club’s highest paid players, bringing his salary in line with the likes of Sergio Ramos and Gareth Bale.
Modrić won the Ballon d’Or in 2018 after leading Croatia to the World Cup final and winning the Champions League with Madrid.
