Barcelona striker Luis Suarez has called for significant improvement from the Catalans ahead of the Supercopa de España.
In their first game back after the winter break, Barça were held to a 2-2 draw at city rivals Espanyol.
The dropped points allowed Real Madrid draw level on points at the summit of La Liga, with Los Blancos convincingly beating Getafe 3-0.
Espanyol took a first-half lead in the city derby through David Lopéz, but Suarez equalised five minutes after the break. Arturo Vidal struck just before the hour mark to give the visitors the lead.
However, the dismissal of Frenkie de Jong saw Barca down to 10 men for the final 15 minutes, and Espanyol managed to salvage a point with an 88th-minute Wu Lei goal.
“We did the most difficult thing, which was to come back [from a goal down] at a rival’s stadium,” Marca reported Suarez as saying.
“I think we lost two points today.
“There are things to improve, whether you draw, lose or win. You have to evaluate what happened and then improve.
“We knew that it was going to be a difficult game, but now we’ve got great days coming up, days to try to win a trophy.
“We have to improve looking to the Supercopa.”
The tournament will take place in Saudi Arabia, with Barça due to face Atlético Madrid in the semi-final in Jeddah on Thursday.
