Arsenal midfielder Lucas Torreira feels he is “growing in confidence with every game” after a mixed start to the season.

Torreira – a €30m signing from Serie A side Sampdoria – has been used as a second half substitute by Unai Emery in each of Arsenal’s opening three Premier League games.

Speaking after the club’s win over West Ham, the 22-year-old has insisted it will take time to adapt to his new surroundings despite making a positive impact whenever called upon.

“I’m really happy. It’s all very new for me because I’ve come from a different type of league,” he told the club’s official website.

“The climate is different here and the way of life, but I’m settling in nicely and training hard – the sessions are different too. The confidence will grow with every game, so that’s great.

“For me the best thing is to be able to help my team, as I did today coming on in the second half, and we were able to get the win for our fans, who really deserve it.”

Arsenal beat West Ham 3-1 on Saturday to claim their first three points in the season. They’ll be looking to build on that against Cardiff City next week, when Torreira could make his first start for the club.
