Dejan Lovren insists he is one of the best defenders in the world and called out Sergio Ramos for being more error-prone than he is.

Lovren has made some high-profile errors since signing for Liverpool, leading to him being ousted out of the team by Joe Gomez and Virgil van Dijk.

However, the 29-year-old believes reputations count for everything, and that other defenders are given an easy ride because their mistakes “don’t matter”.

“People always catch you on these mistakes, they don’t look at the good things,” he told Copa90. “Sometimes I think I don’t deserve the hate, I would say.

Liverpool face Arsenal in the Premier League on Saturday, before travelling to Serbia to face Red Star Belgrade on Tuesday.
