Marko Grujić has had very little opportunity to play for Liverpool this season and the club have decided to send him on loan to Championship side Cardiff City.

The Serbia international has played a grand total of 13 Premier League minutes so far this term.

Liverpool won the race to sign the midfielder in 2016 and he is still considered one of the brightest talents in Serbian football but faces a tough task in breaking into the first team at Anfield.

Grujić told the Cardiff website of his excitement over the move.

“This is a good opportunity for me, to play in a club that will be fighting until the end to get in to the Premier League,” he explained.

The 21-year-old also expressed hope that the move could be a turning point in his career and an opportunity to show Jürgen Klopp what he’s capable of.

“This is perhaps the breakthrough moment of my career,” he told MOZZART.

“I am aware that I have got a great chance, playing for the next six months in a big club, and thanking Mr. Klopp for everything he has done for me.

“He encouraged me many times over the past 18 months, and I believe that I will justify his confidence. Of course, I hope I will help Cardiff gain promotion to the Premier League.”

Assuming his international transfer clearance goes through, Grujić could make his Cardiff debut against Sheffield Wednesday on Saturday.
