Liverpool have reportedly made a contract offer to Iker Muniain in a bid to persuade the Athletic Bilbao midfielder to leave the club on a free next summer.

The 25-year-old has been one of Athletic’s key men ever since he burst on to the scene five years ago and has amassed over 200 Liga appearances for the Basque side in a nine-year career so far.

But with his contract set to expire at the end of the campaign and a renewal not agreed upon just yet, Marca claim that Jürgen Klopp’s men have told the player’s representatives that they have a contract offer ready and waiting should he decided to leave on a free.

The Madrid-based sports daily claim that Muniain is interested in testing himself in the Premier League, but would prefer, for now, to stay with his boyhood side.
