Leigh Griffiths promises Celtic return for pre-season | OneFootball

After being sidelined for much of the season due to personal problems, Celtic striker Leigh Griffiths insisted he will be ready to return for pre-season.

He was again left out of the squad on Saturday as his teammates secured a treble treble in his absence.

A 2-1 victory over Hearts thanks to an Odsonne Édouard brace fired the Hoops to victory at Hampden in the Scottish Cup final.

Reflecting on the victory afterwards, Griffiths revealed that he is raring to go for the new season already.

“I’ll be back for pre-season,” the former Hibs striker said, as quoted by Football Scotland.

“I’ve not been involved for a long time but this is a great club to be a part of. The boys were magnificent in the second half, going 1-0 down against a difficult side.

“We came back and deservedly won the cup. It is special. The boys knew what was at stake and went out and performed to be history makers again.

“It is tough for me but you need to give credit to the boys. It is about the 18 and everybody involved. It isn’t about me, it is about them.”

The Scotland international hasn’t featured on the field in 2019, playing his last game on 8 December before stepping away from the game for undisclosed personal reasons.
