Leeds United have made a late move for Liverpool’s Ovie Ejaria in a bid to beat Reading to his signature.
The 21-year-old is expected to depart Anfield again this summer, having spent much of his time there out on loan.
Last season, he had an unsuccessful spell at Rangers before recapturing his form at Reading and they are keen to bring him back.
According to the Reading Chronicle, the Royals now face late competition from Leeds United for Ejaria’s signature.
Marcelo Bielsa’s men have entered the race late and while Reading are still believed to be favourites to secure his signature, the Yorkshire outfit are hopeful their late swoop could tempt Ejaria.
The fact that he spent time last season on loan at the Madjeski is reportedly the reason for Reading having the edge as things stand.
Elsewhere, Leeds United confirmed that young Irish defender Paudie O’Connor has departed the club to join Bradford City.
He has put pen to paper on a three-year deal with the Bantams, having made just four first team appearances at Elland Road.
