This news will not make Marcelo Bielsa’s day.

According to the Yorkshire Evening Post, Spanish third-division side Cultural Leonesa have made an approach for Leeds United U-23s boss Carlos Corberan to become their new manager.

The U-23s were spectacular this past season, seeing several players earn call-ups under Bielsa and winning both their league title and the PDL play-off final.

In addition to managing the U-23s, Corberan was promoted to Bielsa’s backroom staff last season.

Cultural Leonesa are controlled by Qatar’s Aspire Academy, the development centre with which Leeds established an official partnership with in 2018.

That’s not the only connection Leeds have to Cultural Leonesa. Back in the 2017-18 season, Leeds loaned both Ouasim Bouy and Yosuke Ideguch to the Spanish outfit.
