Jack Clarke was one of Leeds United’s star men last season and earned a move to Tottenham on the back of his displays.

He is now back at Elland Road on loan from the London club as he aims to help them finally achieve top flight promotion.

But things haven’t been as successful this time around and he has played just 115 minutes of action in the EFL Cup and received no league playing time.

Addressing the situation when speaking to the assembled media on Thursday, Whites boss Marcelo Bielsa offered an explanation – and a warning for Clarke.

“He has showed in previous times that he is an unbalanced player,” the Argentine said, quoted by Leeds Live.

“He has to show us again the skills that he has. [Jack] Harrison, [Hélder] Costa, [Jordan] Stevens, Clarke and Pablo [Hernandez] can all play as wingers.

“These are the players he is competing with for a chance. He competed previously with [Ezgjan] Alioski too. Now, he must do the same.

“Like everyone, he is fighting for a position. He’s doing that and I’m always watching.

“I analyse training, cup, Championship, Under-23 games and his behaviour and after this, I make conclusions.

“I’m thinking he will be in the team but sometimes I will be right and sometimes I will be wrong.”

Bielsa’s men take on Swansea City this weekend in an early top of the table clash between two of the division’s four remaining undefeated sides.
