Newcastle could face a huge blow ahead of the upcoming season if reports out of Italy are true.

In the latest claim from Italian media, Napoli are interested in bringing in Newcastle centre-back Jamaal Lascelles this summer.

Lascelles is under contract at St. James’ Park until 2024 and has been with the Magpies since arriving from Nottingham Forest in summer 2014.

Napoli could add Jordan Lukaku to the deal in order to lower their asking price and give Newcastle incentive to part ways with their captain.

Newcastle appeared to have landed Lukaku in a January loan move but the 24-year-old failed his medical and returned to Rome.

Lazio are desperate for centre-back help and have previously been connected to Braga’s Bruno Viana and Hoffenheim’s Kevin Vogt.

On Wednesday, rumours also linked Lazio to Arsenal centre-back Calum Chambers.
