A Jonathan Calleri penalty has cancelled out Lionel Messi’s first half free kick.
As expected, it was the visitors who started the brighter, with Messi at the heart of everything the Blaugrana were doing well.
And it was the Argentina international put his team into an early on 21 minutes.
A free kick from the edge of the area flew into the top right-hand corner, and took the Ballon d’Or winner to 599 career goals.
But right after half time the Gran Canaria side levelled.
There was confusion over what happened inside the area, but the referee pointed to the spot for what was perceived to be handball and Jonathan Calleri calmly placed his spot kick into the top corner.
