LaLiga's odd new rules involve mascots, dressing rooms and pitches | OneFootball

The new LaLiga season is underway and that means there are new laws to abide by.

Updated each year, a 178-page document outlines rules and regulations for the Spanish First Division. Rules are mandatory and must be followed by clubs in Spain’s top flight, otherwise they risk fines.

Needless to say, it contains a few peculiar guidelines and – thanks to AS – we can share them with you.

Mascots

Should not be seen during the game and are not allowed to exceed “the size of a regular person”.

If an average-sized person has to fit in the suit, surely the suit has to be bigger than your average-sized person?

Pitch

Grass must be between 20-30mm long and each pitch must be cut with nine lines across it.

Water sprinklers must be turned off during games in case they accidentally come on while players are on the pitch.

Match recording

Clubs are no longer allowed to record matches themselves for instant analysis of games. There will be three fixed cameras they can use instead.

Dressing rooms

LaLiga have requested more co-operation from clubs as the league hope to record the last part of team-talks.

Players who are sent off cannot be interviewed after they leave the field.
