La Liga 2015/16 season preview

Our partners and friends have predicted what the 2015/16 season will look like for La Liga and for some of the clubs in it.

When Atletico Madrid won La Liga in 2014 it marked the first time a club other than Barcelona or Real Madrid had lifted the title since Valencia ten years previously, and only the second time in those intervening years that Barca and Real hadn’t finished in the top two.

All was back to ‘normal’ last season though as Barcelona and Real dominated the Primera División with 16 and 14 points ahead third-placed Atletico. Córdoba and Almería were the bottom two with 13th-placed Elche joining them in the Segunda División following punishment for unpaid taxes.

This season sees Real Betis, Sporting Gijón and Las Palmas join the ranks of the Spanish elite, with Las Palmas playing in La Liga for the first time since 2001/02.

Our partners and friends have predicted what the 2015/16 season will look like for La Liga and for some of the clubs in it. Below you will find their individual predictions for the season, including exclusive lineups, league preview and more.

But first, our friends Viva Football Calcio have predicted the La Liga season and its best XI. Do you agree? Comment below if you think it could be improved…

Viva Football Calcio 2015/16 Season Preview

Barcelona will be champions. They won it all last year and there’s no doubt they’ll do it again. Their front three is frightening. Gijon, Eibar, Las Palmas will go down. Two of the promoted teams to return to the Segunda, Real Betis to survive. Eibar to drop down after a dramatic survival last term.

Athletic Club will surprise. A inconsistent last season for the Bilbao outfit but they weren’t too far behind the Champions League spots. A Europa League return this season and a chance to push on, following their Copa Del Rey runners-up finish and recent Super Cup win.

First to be sacked? David Moyes. Just a hunch but the former Manchester United boss has a lot riding on him. Spanish supporters are unforgivable, especially with a foreign boss, so he could lose his support fairly quickly.
