Current boss Unai Emery is out of contract in the summer and is expected to leave PSG after two straight Champions League exits in the round-of-16.

In an interview with SportBild, Kevin Trapp praised Thomas Tuchel amid reports that link the former Borussia Dortmund manager to the Ligue 1 champions-elect.

“Not wanting to speculate [about the future of Emery], I will not comment,” Trapp said. “However, what I can say is that Thomas is certainly an excellent coach — he has proven that with his success.

“What he did with Mainz and with Dortmund speaks for itself.”

Despite a lack of playing time this season, the goalkeeper stayed in Paris. However, Trapp would not rule out a move in future.

“A change needs to have meaning and I must be able to see everything in its entirety,” he said. “I do not feel things like I did in the past. I have been with PSG for three seasons, playing regularly in two of them. This campaign, not so much.

“I knew that I would get some game time, though, and that is why it was best to stay in Paris.”

Trapp should start for PSG in the Coupe de la Ligue final against Monaco in Bordeaux on Saturday, with the substitute goalkeeper traditionally playing both French domestic cups.
