Gonzalo Higuaín has joined Chelsea on loan until the end of the season but the move could be made permanent.

Though the striker was playing for AC Milan this season, he was still contracted to Juventus.

In a statement released on their website, Juventus confirmed Chelsea have options to extend the deal for the 2019/20 season or can buy Higuaín outright.

If the Blues wish to keep the Argentine for the 2019/20 campaign, they will have to pay €18m.

Should they want to sign Higuaín on a permanent deal it will cost them €36m.

“When the opportunity to join Chelsea presented itself I had to take it,” Higuaín said after completing his loan move.

“It’s a team I’ve always liked that has a lot of history, a wonderful stadium and they play in the Premier League, a league I’ve always wanted to play in.

“I now hope I can give back that trust Chelsea have shown me out on the pitch. I can’t wait to start and I hope to adapt as soon as possible.”

Higuaín left Juventus for Milan on an initial loan deal last summer but things have not worked at for the striker at San Siro.
