Real Madrid made a €60m bid for Miralem Pjanić this summer but the offer was flatly rejected by Juventus, according to Tuttosport.
The Spanish giants were on the lookout for a Mateo Kovačić replacement before his loan switch to Chelsea and identified the Bosnian as the perfect signing, the report says.
New Real Madrid boss Julen Lopetegui is reportedly a big fan of the 28-year-old and was keen for the Bernabéu hierarchy to strike a deal. Pjanić is also seen as a suitable name to fill the void by the possible departure of Luka Modrić.
However, the offer was turned down, with the playmaker a major part of Massimiliano Allegri’s plans in Turin.
The Serie A champions have no desire to cash in on one of their main players and reports suggest it would take a bid of at least €80m for Juventus to even consider a deal.
