Reports in Italy on Friday suggested Juventus had agreed a deal to sign Sampdoria midfielder Dennis Praet.
The Belgian’s agent, however, told a journalist that the information was not accurate.
Martin Riha, who manages Praet, informed Vince Van Genechten: “The deal with Juventus isn’t done.
“I can only say that Dennis has showed potential since the start of the season.
“I’m almost sure that Dennis will take the next step in his career after this season, although he likes Sampdoria.”
In other words, Praet will not be moving yet but could still join Juventus in the summer.
The 23-year-old is understood to have a €25m release clause in his deal with Sampdoria.
In the current market, there would be more than a few teams willing to pay that for a full Belgium international who has been at the centre of Sampdoria’s impressive first half of the season.
Praet will try to help the Genova side qualify for Europe this season but the summer is likely to see him leave and his destination could well be Juventus.
