With the football on hold at the moment, we’ve been thinking about who gets in Juventus’ all-time XI.

Today we’re choosing the final forward.

Here are the nominees …

3rd – Pietro Anastasi

Anastasi was an idol at Juve throughout the 1970s, having arrived in 1968 from Varese and ‘Pietruzzu’ quickly became a popular player in Turin for the infectious enthusiasm and passion he displayed.

He was a ferocious, courageous competitor who was capable of incredible feats, such as a four-minute hat-trick against Lazio after coming off the bench, showing that the ‘Anastasi – the White Pelè’ banner that fans hung for him was well earned.

In total, Anastasi played 303 games for the Bianconeri and scored 130 goals, several of them being outrageous acrobatic efforts which he had a penchant for, and won the Scudetto on three occasions.

2nd – John Charles

One of the most beloved figures in Juve history, ‘The Gentle Giant’ arrived in Turin from Leeds in 1957 for a British record fee but it would prove to be money very wisely spent.

In his first season, he scored 29 goals to become the only British capocannoniere in Serie A history and drag a team which finished ninth the previous year to a league and cup double.

He went on to captain the club too, scoring 105 goals in his five seasons and winning multiple trophies, with the Italian public voting him as the league’s greatest ever foreign player, beating the likes of Diego Maradona, Michel Platini and Marco van Basten to the honour.

And the winner is … Alessandro Del Piero

Mr Juventus. Ask any football fan which player comes to mind when they think of the Old Lady and chances are the majority will respond with the man who has found the net more times for the club than anyone else.

He was also one of the best players Italy ever produced, proving himself not just a great goalscorer but a scorer of great goals too, pulling off some outrageous volleys and fantastic free-kicks.

Already a legend, his iconic status was assured in 2006 when he was one of the first to commit his future to Juve upon their Serie B demotion but it was never in doubt that he’d refuse to abandon the club he loves.

His list of achievements is much too long to list, winding up with 290 goals, winning multiple Serie A titles, the Champions League and endless individual honours.

Check back tomorrow when we will be revealing the team in full!
