The long-awaited transfer finally took place after over a month of negotiations.

According to multiple reports, the 24-year-old signed a four-year contract with the São Paulo-based side in a deal reportedly worth R$10m (€2.35m).

Sornoza has been capped six times by Ecuador since 2014 and earned his first caps in four years after impressing heavily for Fluminense this season.

Sornoza began his career with Ecuadorian side Independiente del Valle, where he played from 2011 to 2016 that included a short loan spell with Liga MX side Pachuca for the 2015 Clausura season.

Sornoza made the move to Fluminense in January 2017 in a R$7m (€1.7m) deal after leading Independiente del Valle to the 2016 Copa Libertadores final.

This is just the latest in a series of moves for Corinthians after a horrific 2018 season which nearly saw them relegated just one year after becoming Brazilian champions.

Corinthians have brought back 2017 title-winning manager Fabio Carille from Al-Wehda in Saudi Arabia, as well as famed Liga MX striker Mauro Boselli from Club León.

This is the third player Corinthians have bought from Fluminense in this window, completing deals for midfielders Richard and Douglas Augusto.
