Defeat to Bayer Leverkusen at the weekend saw Bayern Munich slip to seven points behind Bundesliga leaders Borussia Dortmund.
Needless to say, Joshua Kimmich wasn’t very happy.
“I lose the ball on two or three occasions where you absolutely can’t lose it, especially playing in midfield,” Kimmich told TZ after the game.
Bayern had led 1-0 at half-time but conceded three times after the break.
The result saw them lose ground on Dortmund and fall behind Borussia Mönchengladbach in the table.
Kimmich admitted that he was left frustrated not only by the result “but also because of my performance”.
The German had been expected to start at right-back on Saturday but was moved to midfield after Thiago was unexpectedly ruled out.
“It’s a quick adjustment,” admitted the 23-year-old. However, it’s not the first time he has played in midfield this season.
“Speaking about my game in general, I think I just couldn’t help the team dominant in possession.”
Bayern will be hoping to react on Wednesday, when they face Hertha BSC in the DFB Pokal, before getting back to Bundesliga action against Schalke at the weekend.
