With just one year remaining on his contract, it appears that Newcastle will cash in on seldom-used forward Joselu.
That’s according to reports out of Spain, which claim that ‘it’s only a matter of time’ until the 29-year-old completes his move to LaLiga side Alavés.
This would be the second Premier League forward Alavés will have acquired in the summer window, as they signed Lucas Pérez from West Ham just a few days ago.
Joselu scored in two goals in the first three games of the Premier League season but failed to hit the back of the net the rest of the campaign.
In fact, the Spaniard featured in just nine minutes of top-flight football since Boxing Day and was left out of the matchday squad for nine of Newcastle’s final 10 games.
Alavés managed to finish in 11th place in LaLiga last season but managed to score just 39 goals on the season.
