According to ESPN, José Mourinho is interested in bringing Zlatan Ibrahimović back to Manchester United after an incredible spell in Major League Soccer.
In 25 matches with the LA Galaxy, Ibrahimović has bagged an impressive 21 goals and assisted on nine others.
The Reds are in desperate need of a boost following their miserable start to the season, which has seen them drop to eighth in the table.
If anything, the 37-year-old can be a massive influence in a United dressing room that currently lacks a clear-cut leader since the departures of Wayne Rooney and Ibrahimović.
Mourinho and Ibrahimović have a longstanding relationship, having previously worked together at Inter Milan.
These reports come just a short time after the Swede claimed that Mourinho is the right man for Manchester United.
“I think [Mourinho] has the ability to win [the Premier League],” Zlatan told reporters.
“I think he is the right coach for that club, for that team.
“But a coach is only as good as his team, so it’s not like he can do miracles if the team is not good enough.
“And I feel the team is good – it’s progressing, becoming better.
“This is his third year, the players know more and more the way he wants to play and how he wants it – so I believe, yes.”
