After drawing with Cafetaleros and qualifying for the next round, Chivas manager José Cardozo said his side will take the competition seriously.
Chivas will face Atlético San Luis to potentially set up a Súper Clásico quarter-final clash with América, should they win and the Eagles defeat Pachuca.
“We must seek the Copa MX title because it would be very important for us,” he said in his post-match press conference.
Homegrown Leopoldo Cortés and Sebastián Martínez made their debuts on Wednesday night and Cardozo was very satisfied with how they played.
“We want them to have the opportunity to play, they earn it by training, convincing the coach. I’m very happy for them.”
