Chivas manager José Cardozo applauded the performance of his players after the emphatic victory in the Clásico Tapatío.

Amidst the celebrations, Cardozo recognized his players for performing their tasks perfectly despite a physical nature to the match.

On Saturday there was rejoicing throughout the Sacred Flock as Chivas ran out 3-0 winners over Atlas thank to a hat-trick from Alexis Vega.

The score-line informed that the triumphant 47-year-old Paraguayan manager’s mood and he praised the work of his team in a match with such great importance to the supporters.

“We needed a win like that. Chivas always presumes against a rival that we had to be much more compact.”

“So then that means for us as a squad the clásico, we saw a stadium lit up and the people deserved a triumph as did my players.”

The atmosphere was electric inside the Akron Stadium after each time Vega struck past goalkeeper José Hernández.

“They worked well and we are happy with the execution and for the victory. We went out to pressure our rival and the first goal was created out of pressure from Carlos [Cisneros] who stole the ball for Alexis’s goal.

“Today [Alexis] decompresses a lot of the pressure he had on him.”

Guadalajara manager also highlighted the reaction of his team after conceding late in second-half stoppage time to drop points to Necaxa.

“My team had rebellion, hierarchy,” Cardozo credited the setback with helping stoke competition for places within the squad.

“There was no claim for my players and this week we worked just as hard, we were more focused and we played with ease.”
