The 27-year-old has a €42m option-to-buy clause in his loan deal from Real Madrid, but Bayern Munich are still debating whether to sign him permanently or not.
Regardless of what happens, Real are unlikely to keep him beyond this season following the return of Zinedine Zidane.
According to Calciomercato, Mendes has floated the idea of signing James to Juventus sporting director Fabio Paratici during conversations over João Félix.
The Bianconeri are keen on signing Félix (whom Mendes also represents) and signing the 27-year-old could hand them an advantage in any deal.
Arsenal and Atlético Madrid are also said to be interested in the Colombian midfielder.
