Jonathan Dos Santos has outlined his plan to become a crucial member of the Mexican national team.
The LA Galaxy midfielder is currently with the squad but was an unused sub during last week’s defeat of Chile.
Now, Dos Santos wants to add to his 39 caps and become more important than ever for his country.
“Not being able to be set a benchmark in the National Team has been a thorn in my side,” Dos Santos told Récord.
“I hope to be able to do that this year and in the years to come.”
And it’s clear he isn’t taking anything for granted despite knowing new boss Tata Martino.
“I will always be available for Mexico when I am considered me,” the 28-year-old added.
“I know Tata from when I was in Barcelona, that does means nothing, it does not mean that he will always call me up.
“I have to be at a good level for that to be the case.”
Dos Santos will have the chance to impress the new Mexican head coach against Paraguay on Tuesday night.
