Steve Bruce will reportedly drop Joelinton in favour of Dwight Gayle for their Premier League clash with Crystal Palace on Saturday.

Joelinton has been an unmitigated flop since arriving from Hoffenheim in the summer, scoring just a solitary league goal and cutting a forlorn figure up front.

But it seems as if Bruce will put the €40m out of his misery by dropping the Brazilian to the bench for their game at Selhurst Park at the weekend.

The Daily Mail say that the Magpies will instead turn to Gayle, who has played just 178 minutes of first team football this season.

Newcastle are currently the joint-second lowest scorers in the division, with only Palace below them.
