Germany head coach Joachim Löw has criticised goalkeeper Alexander Nübel over his decision to join Bayern Munich.
Nübel has just six months left on his Schalke contract and signed a pre-contract agreement with the Bundesliga champions, joining them on July 1.
However, Löw has questioned the reasoning behind this transfer with Manuel Neuer still undisputed first choice.
“Basically, I am a believer of young players getting as much game-time as possible,” he told reporters.
“That way they can develop better. When a player of 20, 21 years of age sits on the bench for two or three years, I don’t know if that is useful.”
According to Sport1, Nübel has a clause in his contract that ensures him 15 games a season, but that claim is yet to be confirmed.
