After just two matches with his new club, it’s unclear when Jean-Philippe Gbamin will suit up for Everton as the club announced earlier today that their new signee has suffered a ‘significant’ injury.

Speaking to reporters after the game, manager Marco Silva said that the problem was more “severe” than originally feared, and later an official statement from the club confirmed his fears.

“Midfielder Jean-Philippe Gbamin has sustained a significant injury to his right quadriceps muscle.”

Gbamin, a £22.5m signing earlier this month, started the 1-0 win over Watford last week but was not on the roster for Everton’s 2-0 win over Aston Villa.
