Having made it clear he wants to leave Barcelona this summer, Jasper Cillessen has been left frustrated at how complicated that will be.

The Dutchman is keen to move on in a bid to find regular playing time and has been closely linked with Benfica, Valencia and Manchester United.

His current club are refusing to budge on his €60m release clause though, much to the frustration of Cillessen.

“My transfer isn’t easy because it is clear Barça won’t give me away for an apple and an egg,” he told Voetbal International.

“The release clause is how things work in Spain. They always do that and we haven’t heard anything different from the club.

“The market is really crazy. Honestly. It’s true they are paying incredible transfer fees for players that we all know aren’t worth that much but you must accept that.”

While he admitted that a move is his priority, the former Ajax man acknowledged that he isn’t going to throw his toys out of the pram to get it.

“I want to go to one of the big five leagues,” he added when quizzed on potential destinations.

“For me that is a healthy ambition that every player has. We have to wait and see where that will be. I now have time to think carefully about it.

“The club knows I’ve always been loyal and never been one to kick up a fuss.”

Last season, Cillessen made just nine appearances for the Blaugrana, with five of those coming in the Copa del Rey.
