Itâs often said in sport âitâs not the winning that counts, but the taking partâ.
Thatâs obviously nonsense, but losing with dignity is something we donât see enough of in modern day football.
And how Japan lost on Monday evening.
Having been 2-0 up with 20 minutes to play against Belgium, the Blue Samurai let slip their lead and crashed out after a last minute Nacer Chadli strike.
Did Japan sulk and moan though? Did the heck.
In fact, they spotlessly cleaned their dressing room in Rostov and then left a note in Russian to say thank you.
Utter class.
