James Rodriguez has received his eagerly-awaited Spanish citizenship on Monday, making a return to Real Madrid more likely.
James is on the second year of his two-season loan with Bayern Munich, but with coach Niko Kovač failing to give the attacker much game time, reports have suggested that he will return to the Spanish capital.
Teams in LaLiga are only allowed to register three non-EU players per squad, and now Marca have confirmed that James will count as an EU citizen.
Going into the 2019/20 campaign, Madrid have Vinicius Junior, Rodrygo Goes and Eder Militao as their three non-EU spots, but with James now in possession of a Spanish passport, he will likely be returning to Santiago Bernabeu.
