James Rodríguez has overlooked Zinedine Zidane, Niko Kovac and Jupp Heynckes when asked about his most important coaches.

James found himself marginalised at Real Madrid under Zidane, with similar issues occurring at Bayern under Kovac.

There was also no mention of Jupp Heynckes, who helped the 27-year-old find form in Bavaria after a lacklustre start under Ancelotti.

“There was never any problem with Zidane and he is a good guy,” he told MARCA.

“The most important coaches for me were Julio César Falconi, Carlo Ancelotti and José Pékerman.

“When Pekerman came to Colombia, there was no winning mentality and with him, we went out on the field feeling like ‘today, Colombia win this!’

“He changed the mentality and always had us wanting to win so that is his legacy: he completely changed our football.

“I consider myself a calm person,” the midfielder added. “Someone who always wants to be around his people and I feel that I’m a good person.”

James had made just 13 starts this season but could be in line to feature against Borussia Mönchengladbach on Saturday.
