According to a report from Spanish newspaper Marca, James has told Bayern that he doesn’t wish to continue at the club after his two-year loan ends.

Bayern have the option to buy James for €42m at the end of the season. If Bayern do not exercise the option, James will return to Real Madrid, where he is under contract until 2021.

The report reads: “James has already told Bayern that he prefers not to continue.

“However, he is aware that the club has the last word, as that is the deal that was signed.

“If the Bavarian entity decides to execute the purchase option before 15 June, Bayern will pay the €42m and then the Colombian must stay.”

The Spanish outlet also explained why James wants to leave the club so badly.

“The Colombian is not comfortable with [Bayern manager Niko] Kovač and the coach does not seem to be on the same page as the player; the facts are clear.

“After returning from the Christmas break, it has been two games and two substitute appearances.

“Being on the bench the first time seemed logical after being injured a little over a month and a half.

“However, not starting at home against Stuttgart was another setback for the player.”

It will be interesting to see if James cracks the Bayern starting XI on Saturday when they travel to Bayer Leverkusen.
