Most of the football world thought Real Madrid’s James Rodríguez would have departed last summer but, to the surprise of many, he ended up starting for Los Blancos at the beginning of the season.
However, due to falling out of favour with Zinedine Zidane and a number of injuries, James has not played in a single LaLiga match since the middle of October.
Now, he seems destined to be leaving the Spanish giants but he may only have to deal with a slightly different commute to work.
According to a report from Gol TV, the Colombian wants to join Atlético Madrid next season in order to continue living in the Spanish capital.
With just a single year remaining left on his current deal, it’s likely Atlético would be able to pick up the 28-year-old at a cut-rate price.
James has featured just 13 times in all competitions for Real Madrid this season, scoring once and picking up a pair of assists.
