James Rodríguez came to Bayern on a two-year loan deal from Real Madrid last summer, with the Bavarians paying a loan fee of €6.5m per season.
Real Madrid cannot bring the 26-year-old back into the squad, as the Champions League finalists failed to add any such provision in the deal.
Bayern can purchase the Colombian international for €42m when his loan ends in 2019, and James is loving life in Germany.
“I’m doing very well, it’s a good league in Germany and the stadiums are packed. I arrived with a different perception,” James told reporters after Bayern’s 3-1 win over relegated Cologne.
James was directly asked about his future, to which he responded, “I’m feeling good. I hope that I will stay here. I’m very happy.”
The Colombian scored Bayern’s equaliser in the 60th-minute for his seventh Bundesliga goal to add to his 11 assists in 22 league games this season. He also featured in every Champions League game for Bayern.
