Soon after agreeing to terminate his current contract by mutual consent, former Chivas captain Jair Pereira was announced as the newest player at Querétaro.

In an interview with Mexican football program Pasión W, Pereira revealed that he fully intended on retiring in Guadalajara. However, he isn’t holding a grudge.

“Many times I thought about retiring at the institution (Chivas). I always played extremely hard and I’m calm because of that.

“Chivas meant a great love for me. Chivas made me who I am today and provided my best moments as a footballer.

“I was able to lift several titles. I will always be grateful.

“I am grateful to the people of Querétaro and what their mission is. I’ve always been a guy who gives everything and this new journey will not be an exception.”

In five-and-a-half years at Chivas, Pereira earned five titles at Chivas: The CONCACAF Champions League on two occasions, two Copa MX crowns, and a Liga MX title.
