Sunderland boss Jack Ross has admitted that takeover talks earlier this summer negatively affected everyone at the club.

The Black Cats had been in discussions with a number of different groups over a potential sale, but so far those have failed to materialise into anything concrete.

It’s meant that there have been a relative lack of new faces at the Stadium of Light and Ross has revealed that the uncertainty has led to a “different” kind of summer.

“It was somewhat different because there was a lot of speculation,” Ross told the Sunderland Echo.

“There were a lot of potential changes at the club that didn’t come to fruition, but still might come to fruition.

“Although they [takeover talks] don’t have a direct, day-to-day impact on me – through the summer they did.

“It affected a little bit of our planning and what the structure would be.

“As things stand it’s as was, and it will continue to be that way until I’m told differently.

“It’s been okay. It was different again, another experience, but you’ve got to detach yourself from that.”

Sunderland have drawn two and won one of their first three League One games this season.
