With a game against Liverpool on the horizon, Arsenal fans have been given one less reason to panic.

The Gunners started Granit Xhaka at left-back in their 2-2 draw against Crystal Palace on Sunday but the club are hopeful both Nacho Monreal and Sead Kolašinac will be available at the weekend.

Minor hamstring injuries have kept the pair out of Arsenal’s last three matches. However, the club’s medical team have now offered an encouraging update on Tuesday.

Both players are “being assessed ahead of Blackpool (h) on Wednesday, October 31” and could feature in the EFL Cup on Wednesday.

Héctor Bellerín has been ruled out of the game against Liverpool but could still return for Saturday’s Premier League game against Jürgen Klopp’s side.

As well as Stephan Lichtsteiner, who replaced Bellerín at half-time on Sunday, Arsenal have Ainsley Maitland-Niles to fill in at the back.

The midfielder can play on the left or the right side of defence and is available for selection again after suffering a leg fracture on the opening day of the season.
