After their spectacular come-from-behind win over Tigres over the weekend, Club América are suddenly the favourites to capture the 2019 Liga MX Apertura title.
A wild weekend saw all four top seeds fall and now América must get by Monarcas to reach the final, where they would face either Rayados or Necaxa.
However, despite their current exploits, the América board are still looking towards the future.
The vice-president of Argentine giants Independiente was in Mexico City and confirmed that they are in town to do business with not just América, but other Liga MX sides as well.
“We came here to fix some debts we have with América. We will try to make an agreement with Mexican football teams to have a closer relationship.”
Independiente still owe América over the transfers of Silvio Romero and Cecilio Domínguez, so it is likely a player will arrive in order to appease the América board.
