In the last few days, the rumour has spread that Club América forward Henry Martín could be moving to Atlas after the Liga MX Apertura final.

Atlas finished 17th in the 18-team Liga MX this season after one of the worst starts in Mexican top-flight history.

It’s obvious that Atlas need a proven goalscorer after they failed to score a single goal until the eighth match of the season. They finished their Apertura campaign with just 11 goals scored.

The 26-year-old Martín struggled to get match time this season, scoring just two goals and providing one assist in 13 appearances (5 starts).

Though the transaction looks set to go ahead, however, nothing official has been released.

On the contrary, Martín published a photo on Twitter with the following sentence: “We do not grow when things become easy, we do it when we face our challenges. Let’s go Eagles!”

Weirdly enough, the official account of Club América retweeted the aforementioned publication.

Immediately after Martín’s post, comments poured in from fans begging the Mexican international not to leave. But for now, everything seems uncertain.

The first leg of the Apertura final against rivals Cruz Azul will take place on Thursday, with the return leg on Sunday.
